    Abstract

Dr Taylor shares her personal experiences around the equality of educational opportunities for black students. This is a conversation that many might rather avoid – indeed Dr Taylor herself found the peer responses ‘incredibly helpful in enabling [her] to discover the unconscious biases still present in [her] thinking’. This is an important contribution that can help us all develop our efforts towards anti-racist practice. I would like to thank Dr Rachel Boyle, Dr Sarah Gillborn, Professor David Gillborn, Dr Stephen Minton, Dr Marlon Moncrieffe, Professor Festus Obiakor, Dr Stuart Whigham and Dr Jason Arday for their invaluable responses.
