Abstract
We live in an information society where dealing with vast amounts of data can be challenging. Researchers consult bibliographical databases, but they frequently overlook possible publishing venues, potential collaborators, new scientific themes, and so on. Bibliometrics is the study of research publications and it can be used to address these goals, allowing researchers to venture outside of their comfort zones and into an unlimited universe of possibilities. However, it has been discovered that there is a low level of involvement with bibliometrics. This study aims to better understand research staff opinions of the field in order to improve my academic practise and student engagement. Ten interviews were conducted with academics and researchers at the University of Leeds, and the data was analysed and coded using NVIVO software.
