Abstract

The most dramatic consequences of the so-called development are putting the very survival of mankind at risk: hydrogeological disasters, desertification, hurricanes, but also riots, terrorism and pandemics show that our cities are not equipped to face the most catastrophic unforeseen events. Faced with this scenario, talking about zombies may not appear to be a priority. Yet, the imaginary can be used as a metaphor to stimulate students and professionals to question themselves about the opportunities offered by dystopias. Born from a research started in 2012, updated today in light of the urban consequences of the coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement and with the interventions of eight researchers and researchers, ZombieCity studies the ongoing crises to catalog the design tools useful for life on this planet , seeking concrete solutions, both strategic and technological, which aim at the creation of a society in which happiness is guaranteed not by economic growth, but by the growth of the quality of life.
