With Glissant in and through … translation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this short piece I share some fragments on my experience of working with French Caribbean author Édouard Glissant’s Poétique de la Relation (1990) in conversation with ethnographic research on urban commoning projects in London and Paris. I explore how processes of translating knowledges and language interweave when carrying out research in different linguistic contexts, practicing engaged and situated research and attempting respectful engagement with decolonial scholarship. Working with this collection of essays by Glissant in and through translation also offers provocations around questions of poetics and, tongues of, and what is lost in, translation.
