Abstract

The geochemical data in this spreadsheet relate to lithic raw material and archaeological investigations in various parts of the Kalahari Desert, southern Africa. Samples were analysed as part of two separate projects, with field seasons in 2011 and 2016-2017. Fieldwork and geochemical analysis undertaken in northwest Botswana and northeast Namibia in 2011 is reported in Nash et al. (2013, 2016). Fieldwork and geochemical analysis undertaken in and around Ntwetwe Pan, Botswana, in 2016-17 is reported in Nash et al. (2022). Only samples with SiO2 contents of ≥80% are included in these studies - other samples have chemical compositions indicating they are either calcrete or a silcrete-calcrete intergrade duricrust but are included here for completeness.
