Abstract
The article presents a parametric study performed to define a preliminary calibration procedure for bracing systems with hysteretic devices. The study is supported by a large number of inelastic seismic analyses of structures idealized as single-degree-of-freedom systems with strength and stiffness modeled by the assembly of two inelastic springs in parallel. Parameters varied include: period of vibration, strength and stiffness and hysteretic behaviour of the structure without devices, strength and stiffness of the dissipative bracing , as well as the variability and intensity of strong ground motion for stiff soil.
