Abstract

This work evaluates several scaling criteria for the scaling of earthquake ground motion based on the study of the response of a family of multi-degree-of-freedom shear buildings under the action of 40 natural accelerograms recorded on stiff soil. The evaluation of the scaling criteria is performed in terms of the correlation between parameters of response and those of scaling. Response parameters included are the natural period of the structure, its strength, stiffness and hysteretic behaviour. Parameters of scaling under study are: peak ground acceleration, spectral velocity and several spectrum intensity scales
