Personal profile
Approach to teaching
I joined the Social Work team as a lecturer in 2023. I am a registered social worker, and a qualified practice educator.
I joined the university after 10 years frontline social work in children’s services. I have worked for BHCC across a wide range of teams including frontline child protection teams, MASH and Kinship Care.
I work part time for the University of Brighton and part time for BHCC in the Social Work Education Team supporting and assessing social work students on placement.
My areas of interest and teaching specialisms are around child welfare and child protection, ethical and value based decision making and anti -oppressive and anti- discriminatory practice.
My approach as a lecturer and social worker is underpinned by taking a relationship-based approach, embedding concepts of complexity and nuance into learning spaces and promoting reflective, self-aware practice.
I currently co-ordinate the Children and Families Module for the undergraduate program as well as teaching across other modules on both the masters and undergraduate programs.
