  • Race Relations
  • Colonialism
  • South Asian Studies
  • Television and Media Studies

I hope to explore Science Fiction Television studies and have further interest in race relations and their impact on SF as a genre in an ever expanding and inclusive universe. I am also interested in representations of race in popular culture particularly in Japanese Animation, Superhero Graphic Novels and SFTV and South Asian SF literature.

I enjoy engaging particularly with:

  • South Asian Science Fiction
  • Science Fiction Television Studies
  • Afrofuturism
  • Space Race and the Empire
  • Imperialism
  • Pop Culture and Screen History

My Ph. D research aims to highlight SF TV and Empire with specific focus on cultural imperialism revolving around American SF, Star Trek, 1960s (Space Race, Cold War) along with classical imperialism as seen in British SF, Blake’s 7, 1970s (post-imperial melancholy) as well as Postcolonialism seen in Indian SF, Space City Sigma, 1980s (decolonisation). Through my analysis I aim to furthermore highlight the impact of race relations and representations of SF TV on the genre of Science Fiction itself.
