Personal profile

Supervisory Interests

I have worked with, supervised and mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students in clinical practice. I have also taught, mentored and appraised trainee radiologists in plain radiograph interpretation.

Approach to teaching

Course leader and lecturer in BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography and MSc Diagnostic Radiography (pre-registration).

I am module leader for several modules including phsyics based modules and image interpretation. Within these topics it is important to be able to scaffold learning such that simple concepts can be built up to provide understanding of deeper and more complex ideas. Where possible I will try to provide space for students to test their knowledge in a safe and judgement-free environment. This may be through practical demonstrations and experiments, straightforward quizzes or simple question and answer sessions. The opportunity to get things wrong without serious consequence, and work out why, can be as valuable a learning experience (or more so) than immediate understanding.
