Personal profile

Research interests

My practice based research draws from my experience of growing up in Northern Ireland. As part of a Northern Irish diaspora, I am interested in the conflicting experiences of Northern Irish identity, history and culture.

Through an on-going reflection upon historical formative events and an engagement with current issues in the province, my work explores questions of identity, memory, conflict, and the symbolic landscape.  Of recent interest is how geo-political and cultural borders create dissonance that provoke conflict within and across communities.

My research outputs stem from my practice in the forms of mixed media artwork, exhibition, and publication. Experimental imaging technologies, the exhibition of works and the material image play important roles with in my practice.
