Research interests
Research Activities and Interests.
My research interests in broad terms explore experimental film and music. I have screened work in variety of film festivals including the British Short Film Festival, Kino Film in Manchester, Flipside in Nottingham, Canterbury, Film Laden in Germany, New Visions in Glasgow, and Trash Cannes in St. Leonard’s which recently won best screenplay, best cinematography and best film. My earlier works have won RTS awards for Scotland and a nomination for the UK. My experimental music has appeared on Digital Nimbus in Los Angeles and Telephasic Workshop in Southend.
As an early career researcher I am currently working on a PhD proposal and identifying a suitable supervisor. My working title is ‘The self as a cultural Product: Audience, interface and White Noise’ and the project will explore the changing landscape of story, and the fragmentation of the artwork in relation to social media. I will be exploring methods of production, the changing relationship of the self in relation to technology and the changes in popular culture.
I have hosted a series of research seminars for Early Career Researchers. The seminars were intended to share good practice relating to research methodologies, practice, funding opportunities and work in progress. Being cross disciplinary the seminar series also gave other academics the opportunity to network and invite views form other disciplines.
