Research interests
I am interested in the evolution of human culture, particularly the evolution of religion. Narrative plays a major role in all religions, and more widely in our cultures too. My research area for my PhD is a cross-disciplinary study of the mechanisms and role of narrative in early human cultural development. I will be looking at human evolution across archaeology, anthropology, psychology, neurology and sociology, to find whether evolutionarily adaptive aspects of narrative are traceable and potentially symbiotic in early human development.
