AbstractHigh intensity intermittent exercise may provide an alternative means of exercise training with greater health benefits than the lower exercise doses used in current practice, yet definitive guidelines for intermittent exercise are lacking. This thesis examines the methodology for intermittent exercise prescription, and assesses the efficacy of an intermittent exercise training intervention for chronic heart failure patients (CHF), thus providing a novel application in UK cardiac rehabilitation programmes.
