Abstract
A 2000-word commissioned catalogue essay, published in the book Generations by Julian Germain. The book is the culmination of Germain's 20-year project, making portraits of four or five generation families across the UK. Germain's collected portraits are published alongside selections from the families' photograph albums to construct a moving, existential story about photography, time and heredity.
