Abstract
An invited 3000-word reflective article on the meaning of 'visual culture' in relation to British identity for a 2024 special issue for the relaunched academic journal, Visual Culture in Britain. The article draws on research from Pollen's 2023 book, Art without Frontiers, which examines how the British Council has used visual art to communicate ideas about nationality and identity.
