Abstract
A validated 1-D Lumped Parameter Model is applied to predict the transient behaviour of an ultra-thin Loop Heat Pipe (LHP) for smartphone thermal management. Validated against experimental data for a 1.56 mm flat plate LHP using ethanol and water, it achieves average temperature deviations of 1.4 °C, over the transient operation at multiple locations. Its low computational demand enables rapid design exploration, and will allow the benchmarking against other smartphone cooling technologies using a figure of merit combining thickness, density, and thermal resistance confirms the ultra-thin LHP as a competitive cooling solution.

| Other | The UK National Heat Transfer Conference is organised under the aegis of the UK National Heat Transfer Committee (https://www.uknhtc.org/) every two years. It is the premier forum in the UK for the local and international heat transfer community to meet, disseminate ongoing work and discuss the latest advances in the heat transfer field. Topics include forced, natural and mixed convection, two-phase flows, boiling and evaporation, condensation, high and low Prandtl number effects, porous and adsorbent media, and radiation plus special application-focused sessions on heat transfer in topical subject areas. The conference will also feature a special industrial session, organised in collaboration with the Heat Transfer Society (https://www.hts.org.uk/). |
