Abstract
This work focuses on a bygone era of cricket - before the age of helmets, Hong Kong sixes, black sightscreens and white balls. It examines how the game has changed since the end of World War I via the recollections of those involved in the game, including Alf Gover, Ali Bacher, Brian Close and Lord David Sheppard
