Abstract

This study is a structured literature review to understand the transforming capability of blockchain technology that can enable it to become a green technology to achieve sustainability. The transforming capabilities of blockchain technology can create more efficiency in achieving a net zero outcome to tackle the climate emergency. The methodology is a structured literature review of 29 empirical studies indicating blockchain’s potential for green technologies that can lead to sustainability and the importance of knowledge management. The findings highlight knowledge management and knowledge sharing are crucial to implementing the transforming capabilities of blockchain technology. It is beneficial to a vast population which includes startups and entrepreneurs, environmentalists and sustainability advocates, non-profit organisations, legal professionals, builders and developers, technology enthusiasts and IT departments, educational institutions, healthcare providers, supply chain participants, government regulatory bodies, consumers, and most of the business corporations.
