Abstract
The Boy & The Twins seeks to open up new possibilities of gender constructions by using the space between the concepts of ‘boy’ and ‘girl’.
Through researching negatives from my childhood, I found footage of my twin-sister and myself, taken in Sweden in the 1980s. I created a narrative, The Twins, in which my childhood identity is expressed through boyishness and doubling. When I met teenager Jacob, who identifies as a trans-guy, he became a sort of reminder of my childhood tomboy persona and this became The Boy.
The Boy & The Twins juxtaposes time, space and gender. Jacob his boyfriend, my twin-sister and myself form overlapping narratives, which are continuously being built and broken.
