Abstract
The series of UK Heat Transfer Conference (UKHTC) has been organized under the auspices of the UK National Heat Transfer Committee since 1984. The UKHTC is currently a premier forum in the UK for the local and international scholars to present and discuss their latest progress in the heat transfer field.
The 16th UK Heat Transfer Conference (UKHTC2019) was held at the University of Nottingham during September 8–10, 2019 and Chaired by Professor Yuying Yan. The scientific program included 6 plenary lectures, 3 invited keynote speeches, and more than 180 presentations, which covered various aspects of heat transfer field from fundamentals to applications. The conference was well attended from both academia and industry, with the participation of over 260 scientific delegates from 27 different countries. The next conference in this series, the 17th UKHTC, is scheduled for September 5–7 September 2021, at the University of Manchester, UK.
For this special issue of Heat Transfer Engineering, the focus is oriented to underline the heat transfer behavior in complex energy systems. Eight papers were selected by the conference committee based on the quality of the work and scope of the journal. The selected papers followed the normal peer-review procedure of the journal and the authors were required to revise and improve the paper according to the comments and suggestions from the independent reviewers. The articles for this special issue were edited by the guest editors Professor Yuying Yan and Dr. Chuang Wen, and Editor-in-Chief of Heat Transfer Engineering, Professor Afshin Ghajar...
