Abstract
This paper builds upon the Job Demand-Resource (JD-R) model, extending it to understand better its impact on overall firm performance, particularly in technology-based companies. The paper emphasizes that, in the fast-paced and highly competitive technology industry, leadership plays a pivotal role. Leadership is not only essential for guiding teams and maintaining high levels of motivation, but it also fosters an environment that promotes skill development. Additionally, the paper addresses the issue of burnout, which can be a significant challenge in demanding sectors like technology. Leaders, by prioritising employee well-being and providing support mechanisms, can help mitigate the effects of burnout. In technology-based firms, skill enhancement is crucial, as it correlates directly with the company’s competitive advantage. Leaders can use the key drivers of knowledge management practices to create a work culture that balances job demands with the necessary resources for employees to thrive, thus preventing exhaustion and maintaining productivity.
