Abstract

In recent years, different displacement-based seismic design methods have been proposed. The direct displacement-base design method has been adapted to a wide range of structural configurations. However, in order to improve the behaviour of structures, innovative materials have been also developed. As an example, high performance fiber reinforced composite is a kind of concrete with enhanced ductility in tension. In order to apply the direct displacement-base design to structural systems with this kind of mechanical properties, a new relationship ductility-damping is proposed.
