Quality Assurance, Accreditation, and Digital Competencies: Reimagining Standards for the Digital Age

Research output: Chapter in Book/Conference proceeding with ISSN or ISBNChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The digital transformation of higher education has fundamentally altered the landscape of quality assurance and accreditation, necessitating a comprehensive reimagining of how educational excellence is defined, measured, and maintained. This chapter examines the intersection of quality assurance frameworks, accreditation processes, and digital competency development within the context of smart campus ecosystems. Through an analysis of emerging models, international standards, and institutional case studies, we explore how traditional quality mechanisms are evolving to accommodate digital pedagogies, online learning modalities, and technology-enhanced educational experiences. The chapter presents a framework for integrating digital competencies into quality assurance processes while addressing challenges related to assessment authenticity, credential verification, and cross-border recognition.
