Abstract
Disseminating the principles of open science among European students and researchers is a necessity and a challenge, especially if we take into account that open access to the results of scientific activity is increasingly extended between the requirements of national and international project calls. In particular, we will focus on the policies of the European Commission, approved for the Horizon 2020 research framework programme, and which affect published research works derived from the approved project and on an experimental basis to research data related to certain thematic areas. The FOSTER project (Facilitate Open Science Training for European Research), funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Programme, with a duration of two years (February 2014-2016) has among its general objectives those of the dissemination of European open access policies and how to comply with them, and to support, especially young researchers, so that open access to its scientific production is a common practice in the context of the European Research Area (ERA). To achieve these objectives, FOSTER has established three lines of action: 1. Identify and collect relevant content related to open science, which can be reused in the e-learning portal and in training activities. 2. Creation of an e-learning portal, with scalable learning modules. 3. Training courses sponsored by FOSTER with special attention to those whose function is that of train to trainers. The e-learning portal will be available during the second half of 2015, and the map and calendar with all the courses taught and accepted for completion throughout 2015 will be set in the first quarter of this year. All material generated during these courses must be reusable and distributed with open licenses, preferably with the Creative Commons CC-BY license. This communication sets out European open access policies and how FOSTER has contributed so far to their dissemination and how to implement them.
