Abstract
This article explores cultural change in the Eastern Townships, an area of rural Quebec in Canada. During the past century the region has changed from being predominantly English speaking to predominantly French speaking, although it still has one of the highest proportions of English speakers in Quebec outside of Montreal. The region has undergone an exciting process of linguistic, ethnic and religious change over the past 200 years.
