Abstract

There is something in the line that embraces ontology and epistemology of external world with the desire to touch the real. When working with the line there seem to be a possibility to touch the world and the viewer while encountering duration, expansion or mediation the real. Line is contingent on the medium and depth and it offers an experience of the reversibility of dimensions. Architecture is an art of consequence. Architecture is born through creation of repetitions, structures of lineage and intuitive process all of which create encounters with the real. While drawing is often seen as one of the registers of architecture my work considers architecture as a form of drawing one that is contingent on technology, materiality, occupation and construction. Working with line and lineage we became interested in its fluid, swelling and erosive materiality based on analogies with world processes – natural, historical, or evolutionary. Approaching a particular process that we perceive from a point of view of collection and selection and from where there is a possibility to create an unconventional lineage that provides an interplay of diverse forces (intuitive, constructional, intellectual and material) we discovered a possibility for another materiality and a different architectural encounter that touches the world in an unexpected way.
