Abstract

Artists and lecturers Leslie Hakim-Dowek and Dora Carpenter-Latiri sat in conversation with artist Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari, to explore their photography, their use of family albums, and their relationships with the conflicted home cities they have left behind. I presented and discussed photos of Tunisia, some taken by me, some taken by my father, to cover the changes taking place first after Independance (1956) and after the revolution (2011). In my presentation my focus was on issues of recent violence and terrorism in Tunisia, overall theme of group exhibition is 'Rejecting violence with the lens in former Ottoman territories' https://www.autonomyofself.com/#autonomyofself
