    Abstract

The chapter discusses jewellery-wearing in France, Britain and America in the 1920s. It considers the changing attitudes to wearing and thinking about jewellery that came about after the end of the First World War, including what jewellery was, what it meant to the wearer and how it was represented and 'performed'.
