Abstract
Introduction to book Tarihin Dorugu wadda ya fada da kansa, Histoire de Dorougou, racontee par lui-meme. French/Hausa publication by Editions Albasa, Niamey 2015
This book, financed with the support of the German Embassy in Niamey, the Heinrich Barth Society, Cologne and Restcent Initiative, Bremen represents the first African/French translation of Dorugu's travel account (originally published in English). I was invited to write the introduction for this book by Mate Ni Kane/Albasa.
Dorugu was the 19th century travel companion of the German explorer Heinrich Barth and the publication of this book represents a significant milestone towards the rediscovery of Dorugu.
