Abstract
Scientific papers including international collaboration may have a positive citation impact because of two different reasons: their connections are expanded and higher expectations in terms of prestige and quality are created. On the other hand, collaborating with a country generally increases benefits received from it. However, in this sense, some collaborating countries provide larger increases in references than others, whereas some other countries register higher increases in citations from their partner countries compared to others. Furthermore, increases in citations provided by countries to their collaborating countries show differences among the different disciplines in science.
