Abstract
I have positioned my research philosophically as pragmatic educational action research. However, I did not ‘arrive’ at this positioning at the beginning of the research process, rather it has evolved. I will discuss three themes in this session. First, I’ll explore my struggle to construct, realise and articulate the philosophical research stance that I have adopted for my doctoral research. Second, I’ll explain the practical approaches that I adopted to deepen my philosophical understanding, to try to position my research focus within a philosophical framework. Finally, I will endeavour to articulate my rationale for positioning my research as pragmatic educational action research.
