Abstract
The work involves an exploration of the literature and theory of mourning including repetition of process, these physical processes still the mind and allow the unconscious to rise to the surface. The outcome of this research is a series of fragmented portraits. This portrait is one of the series, made from embodied materials of hand made paper, as a fragmented hand made canvas. The hand made paper is weighed out to 21 grams, the weight of the soul. It is sized with milk and painted with ash collected from burnings.
