Abstract
In previous research published in the journal Cities, Samer Bagaeen discussed the redevelopment and rehabilitation of military sites. Julian Dobson, a writer and facilitator specialising in regeneration and sustainable communities, wrote "In the Public Interest?" for the Bill Sargent Trust in 2010. In this paper, we draw on the implications of the financial crisis and new government legislation for neighbourhood planning on the approach adopted by the UK MoD to land disposals and how these can allow for local communities to lead the development of former MoD sites.
