Abstract
A short commissioned essay by Annebella Pollen for Famzine 2, Autumn 2022, by the Family Museum, exploring changing attitudes to family photography in academia, intertwined with a personal account of Pollen's interest in the topic.
The Family Museum was co-founded in 2017 by filmmaker Nigel Martin Shephard and editor Rachael Moloney, and builds on Shephard's collection of 25,000 family photographs and 400 photograph albums, collected over 30 years. The Family Museum host the collection and produce events, exhibitions and publications.
Famzine is the second of the Family Museum's publications on family photographs, and includes images and essays from photography historian Annebella Pollen, photographer Tina Rowe, photo-genealogist Ann Larkham, and found photography collector Simon Robinson.
