Feminism in and out of the Art Museum

Research output: Chapter in Book/Conference proceeding with ISSN or ISBNChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Feminism has become energetically intertwined in the last forty years with the field of art – the criticism, the history and the contemporary creation of it. This essay examines the history of feminist engagement with the art museum, from political protest in the 1970s to recent 'blockbuster' exhibitions across Europe and North America, as well as in collection initiatives and publications that have emerged in the twenty-first century.
