Abstract
This paper describes a simple laboratory rig for demonstrating the various regions of pool boiling. It allows steady state quantitative measurements of the temperature of the heated surface and the corresponding heat fluxes. The rig uses water as the working fluid and only a small proportion of the surface of the heated body is exposed to the water in order to reduce the overall heat flux requirements.
