Abstract
"Artist/photographer Julia Winckler's project, Retracing Heinrich Barth, attempts to rediscover Barth and his African journey. It does this not by simply replicating Barth's visit, but by recapturing the spirit of Barth's original journey: to record the everyday experiences of the people of Agadez in the twenty-first century."
