Abstract

This report presents findings from the evaluation of the East Sussex Breaks for Carers Demonstrator Site as carried out by the Social Science Policy and Research Centre (SSPARC) at the University of Brighton. The project and the evaluation were funded as part of the Department of Health's Carers' Strategy from October 2009 to March 2011. The main aim of the Demonstrator Site is to enable carers of people with dementia to access flexible, short respite support across East Sussex from staff trained and experienced in mental health/dementia. As well as continuing and expanding upon existing pilot services operating through Eastbourne and South Wealden's Older Persons Community Mental Health Teams (OPCMHTs), the project has replicated this model of provision in Hastings and Rother, Seaford and Ouse and the High Weald area of East Sussex.
