Abstract
This paper reviews the state of engineering and technical educational institutions in Afghanistan before the war, which started in 1978. The main engineering educational institutions in Afghanistan (Kabul University and Kabul Polytechnic Institute) are described briefly and the present state of engineering and technical institutions is discussed. Recommendations are presented as to how engineering education in Afghanistan may be re-established to international standards
