Emotions and mental images in literature: How Asperger's individuals and neurotypicals infer the ineffable

The term unspeakable includes any form of communication that cannot be fully verbally expressed. The interpretation of the unspeakable in literature can cause emotional influences (de Saussure and Wharton 2020), or non-resentences in non-logical-promoting form (Wilson and Carston 2019). This study investigated the influence of emotions and mental representations on understanding the ution by comparing the way in which people with Aspergers and neurotypicals understand the unspeakable in literature. The data were collected through questionnaires shared in a small equally separated sample of twenty-two participants while for their analysis, both qualitative and quantitative method was used for their analysis. Based on the results, the unspeakable triggers the creation of emotional effects more often on neurotypical than autistics, who seem to find it difficult to interpret it especially in cases where more treatment time of the submignity is required. At the same time, emotion seems to adapt the particulars based on relevance. As far as mental representations are concerned, in both groups the mental images seem to have had a non-museless influence on the understanding of the utions, while their appearance is more common in neurotypical with strong elements of creativity, especially when they have been triggered by poems. On the other hand, as in the Aspergers individuals, the presence of emotion in the descriptions of mental representations was more intensely observed, these images are in their own way carriers of the unspeakable. This study seems to be the first project on understanding the unspeakable, especially with regard to autism and the theory of relevance.
