Abstract
This entry explores and evaluates the contribution of email diaries as a qualitative research method. It begins with a brief history of the email diary and then lists the benefits and drawbacks of using the diary method. Next, it explains how email diaries can benefit researchers. The sections that follow detail digital and information communication technology (ICT) and ethical considerations. The entry concludes with an example of a research project that successfully utilized email diaries as a collection method.
