Abstract

There are many voices arguing that managers should contribute actively to the cause of promoting sustainable development. Many educators, facilitators and consultants are attempting to help managers to unlearn their ‘old’ mind-sets that are locking them into seeing their contribution purely in economic terms. Managing within a framework of sustainable development requires adopting new values, policies and practices. This article describes the developmental journey undertaken by a group of educators as they designed and delivered a sustainable development programme for a large international company. It concludes that the learning journey for educators will be as arduous and challenging as that that needs to be undertaken by participants.
