Design Education: learning, teaching and researching through design

Research output: Book/ReportBook - authored

Abstract

This book considers a range of aspects of learning and teaching in higher education design subjects, from the influence of designer identities, to the notion of 'learning through doing', creativity in design and the relationship between visual and verbal languages. It encapsulates and analyzes the research findings facilitated by the UK-based Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Through Design (CETLD), exploring the experience of design teacher-practitioners embarking on research for the first time, noting some pedagogical terms and assumptions, and exploring the way key tensions and concepts are articulated and negotiated within design higher education.
