Abstract
Group exhibition curated by Bruce Guenther, Curator of Contemporary Art, Portland Museum, Oregon, USA. in the photographs on view, the experience of place is commemorated, displaced, ciphered, or changed through the artist's intervention to become intellectually something else. just as an artist scrambles and alters the purpose and meaning of the place photographed in the process of printing and display, viewers too bring their own needs and stories into play, expanding the record of someone else's experience beyond a fixed notion of place. the work becomes the threshold between memory and possibility-between a moment past and a subject about to begin.
