Abstract

Challenge-based learning (CBL) is a pedagogical approach that actively involves students in a real-life problem that is meaningful and related to they context which implies to identify and delineate the problem to develop a solution" (Monterrey, 2005). This methodology was applied in a university in Colombia with students part of the Business Administration programme. The aim was to confirm the validity and reliability of the methodology and identify how students were able to solve real-life problems. Once the CBL methodology was applied, it can be concluded that such methodology encourages critical and constructive thinking, and encourages students to analyse, design, develop and execute solutions to real problems in their own context which embodies many similarities to the problems they will find once they graduate.
