Abstract
An isomer with a half-life of 151 s has been observed in the N=74 nucleus Sm136, populated following the reaction Ag107(32S,p2n)136Sm. It is proposed to have a K=8- two quasineutron configuration. The isomer decays via a K=8, 466 keV E1 transition with a surprisingly low hindrance per degree of K forbiddenness, f=25.
