Abstract
A Coast for All presents findings from a national survey exploring barriers and opportunities for inclusive beach access across the United Kingdom. Drawing on responses from 1,071 people living with disabilities, long-term health conditions and additional access needs, alongside family members, carers and others responding on behalf of someone they support, the report examines experiences of accessing beaches, shorelines and water environments.
Produced through a collaboration between the University of Brighton and the Beach Access Project, the report identifies key barriers relating to infrastructure, information, transport, facilities and policy, and provides evidence-informed recommendations to support more inclusive access to coastal and blue spaces. The report was launched at the House of Commons in May 2026 and contributes to ongoing discussions around disability inclusion, public health, environmental justice and equitable access to nature.
