Abstract

A 1000-word commissioned review of the 2018 photographic exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, London: The Great British Seaside. The article examines insularity and outlook in representations of national coastal leisure, presented in the show through four interlocking photographic points of view. The article is one of a series by Pollen for Source: The Photographic Review since 2012, covering photography in film and exhibition as well as in art and academic publications.
