Project Details

Description

This ESPRC fund of £42,565 enabled nuclear physics researchers at the University of Brighton to employ a project researcher to join ongoing research at the Spiral facility at the Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL) in France.

Researchers had commenced the study of nuclei with 28<N-Z<50, with particular emphasis on nuclei where meaningful shell model calculations could be done.
However, others required the use of radioactive beams and researchers on the project were able to join the Spiral facility at GANIL to use beams of radioactive 34-Ar at about 2.5MeV per nucleon to study 60Zn, 62-Zn, 68-Se and 70-Se.
